March 2021
Delegates representing the China Air Transportation Association (CATA) met with the Chengdu team of Leader Mutual Freight (LMF) on March 23, 2021. The productive meeting culminated in the proposal of incorporating LMF’s logistics expertise with a B2B platform being developed by CATA to streamline access to air freight insurance services for small- and mid-sized enterprises.
The meeting was attended by Liu Yunlin, deputy director of CATA’s foundation; Yi Long, regional manager for CATA’s southwestern China affairs; Ding Ling and Chang Zhuo-yan, who represent China’s Air Union Insurance Brokers Co.; and tech advisor Lu Bo-wen of Beijing Hangyu Tongcheng Technology.
Prioritizing risk management is a hallmark of LMF’s operations. Leion Wang, managing director of LMF’s Chengdu office, explained how cargo insurance applies not only to air freight, but also to the entire supply chain. He also discussed the multiple facets of corporate social responsibility, citing successful cases from LMF’s Taiwanese and American portfolios.
After LMF Chengdu Managing Director Wang concluded his presentation, CATA’s Deputy Director Liu extended a formal offer for LMF to join the business-to-business (B2B) platform as a representative of the air freight industry of southwestern China, and contribute to the digital project’s development and applications.
The platform aims to bring together small- and mid-sized Chinese companies that require air cargo coverage, with logistics and insurance providers. The membership-based system will be available digitally as a website and phone app, enabling users to compare different offers, purchase insurance plans, file claims, and even receive updates on relevant subsidies and legal policies. LMF is honored to be onboard this project that will expedite daily operations and enhance the quality of service for fellow freight forwarders and logistics companies.
