5 charter flights in 5 days: LMF delivers the impossible

August 2021

Despite the merciless heat edging 100° F, the Leader Mutual Freight (LMF) team in Dallas toiled ceaselessly among airport cargo terminals for a seemingly impossible operation — completing five chartered-flight missions within five days.

It was the last week of July 2021, and as the global coronavirus pandemic simmered on, air freight bookings were limited. LMF’s Taipei and Dallas branches were busy handling a near-impossible project — the delivery of manufacturing and precision equipment for a semiconductor factory’s quarter-end orders. The series of shipments were arriving from two different locations across the world, and LMF was responsible for coordinating their transport so all the parts would arrive at the same time.

The machinery had to be tagged by model type, assembly order, quantity of parts, size, weight, and number of boxes. Some wooden boxes containing magnetic devices required sorting before they were placed in the right trucks for each shipment. Each pallet had to meet stringent airline standards for packaging and security, so team members were up burning the midnight oil to ensure all the details were properly addressed.

As a seasoned freight forwarder, LMF knows to always expect the unexpected, and had budget accordingly for the last-minute challenges that define this industry. Setbacks were quickly rectified with the stout support of LMF partners, EVA Airways and China Airlines. The rock-solid partnership of over two decades proved to be the key to completing this challenge of coordinating five charter flights within five days.
